One of my favorite local artists: Ford Smith

One of my other dreams, secondary to becoming a best-selling romance novelist, was to be a world-renowned artist (or at least not an improverished artist!).

I’m a huge fan of the great masters – Van Gogh, Monet, Titian, etc. I tend to like paintings that are very bold and colorful, or with lots of light, either passionate or imaginative, evoking strong emotions.

Kind of like my novels 🙂

There’s also a few contemporary artists I am influenced by, one of whom is Ford Smith. As part of his painting technique, he starts out with a very dark background and then paint it over with bright colors. The effect is stunning, reminding me of a quote from Book 5 in my series: “How do we know the brilliance of Light if there is no Darkness to remind us? How do we thrive in the night without the sunrise to warm us?”

Enjoy!
