I check the website Houzz.com at least 3 times a day and read most of their stories religiously. I’ve been featured for a spotlight before because I posted a comment and got a bunch of likes. Being a best-selling novelist is my first dream, but if I could pick a “minor” and had the capital, it would be to build and design luxury homes.
I would say my personal taste runs between transitional and contemporary. How about yours?
Here are some of my favorite dream home pictures:
Kitchen: Love, Love, Love lots of light, windows, open floor plan, skylights. I especially need the kitchen to be open to a family-room/ living-room or gathering area. This is the center of my home.

Bath: I’d like to have windows everywhere, including the bath. Dark baths make me feel like dirt is hiding somewhere and are depressing. Rainforest showers are a must.

Bedroom: Bedrooms should be for sleeping in, but I do a lot in the bedroom. My current one has a sitting area with my library of books and a desk. So lots of windows with blackout shades.

Living room: Lots of light. Airy and open.

Basement: I like houses with walk-out terrace levels, which are considered “basements” too. Again, daylight is a must. But if not, then I’d like to simulate the light where possible. Dark man caves have no place in my home. Thankfully, my husband doesn’t mind.

Sunroom/ outdoor hang out: Love, love, love sunrooms. Like them to be fully attached and 4 seasons. Not as fond of screened porches. I love napping on the daybed in my current sunroom.

Office: I don’t need a dedicated office – I prefer multi-usage of space. A guest bed-office-play room is best.
